Påske..Perfect

Påske

sunset at 2045 (845)
Arriving home from travels to an empty house at first intimidated me.  Alone on Easter??  The last 21 years of my life I have spent Easter with my family, so this was a first.  But, here are the words I’d use to describe this Easter weekend…

Peaceful. Joyful. Perfect.

Amager Strand

Saturday morning I woke up to sunlight BURSTING in through my window and felt well rested…my first thought- “oh man, I must have wasted my entire morning with sleeping!” because it was so bright.  Nope :) it was 8:30am.  So, since I had no agenda, I stayed in my Pjs, in my bed, blogged, read a bit, and listened to the birds and felt the breeze from the window I’d opened.  It was a glorious couple of hours.  Then, I got up decided to make myself salmon to eat for dinner later, and talked with my Dad for his birthday.  Then, I went to the beach : ) Yeah, Denmark has a beach, and it’s beautiful.  I even brought my bike into the city with me- first time for that! Ended the night skyping with my brother, who I miss dearly.

Amager Strand

After two weeks of endless travel, it was great to have a day to myself.  Solitude is a good thing, I think- it makes you fully aware of what you do and do not have, who you are and who you are not, etc.  It was great to spend that time at the beach too :)

Nshunge and our dinner!
Easter Sunday.  Off to church.  Catholic mass times were no where to be found, but I opted for the international church service that organizes the Bible study on Tuesday nights.  It was beautiful.  An Ethiopian woman read some of the scriptures from her Bible as well as from the English Bible, it was very cool.  Then, Nshunge, Jen, Lillian and I decided to explore the Botanical Gardens- with spring in Denmark, everything has suddenly come alive (and thank goodness…was definitely over the cold and gray).  Then Nshunge and I headed home, went to the grocery store, and biked around Smørum a bit. SO BEAUTIFUL.  Jumped on the trampoline, cooked a delicious dinner- Salmon, Chapatis (Ugandan bread), and curry beef with carrots, red peppers, and onions.  Casting Crowns and Danielle Rose joined us for dinner on the patio, with the sun setting at 2030 (830pm), hot tea and blankets.  It was perfect.  Ask Nshunge, there was a smile plastered on my face the entire evening…so much peace filled the air, I felt such gratitude for all of the people in my life, for the opportunity to live in a new place, for grace to have a glimpse of Truth.  Overall, a great way to end my travel break! Only 3.5 weeks until I'm back in NJ...that's crazy! But, for now, off to write a 10 page paper and study for an exam...
